Lomanthang Cashmere Fiber Processing

At Lomanthang Cashmere, we take pride in our state-of-the-art fiber processing unit, established in a
cooperative model with local farmers and supported by national and international organizations. All cashmere and
pashmina collected from households in the villages are brought to this unit, where skilled artisans transform raw fiber
into luxurious yarn ready for knitting and weaving.

The Fiber Processing Journey

The journey begins with collecting cashmere from Himalayan Chyangra goats. Through a series of meticulous steps, the raw fiber is carefully processed to maintain its softness, quality, and purity before being turned into yarn.

1. Breeding Baby Chyangra Goats

Sustainable breeding ensures healthy goats that produce the finest quality cashmere fibers.

2. Combing the Pashmina Goats

Skilled workers comb the goats to collect soft undercoat fibers without harming the animals.

3. Fiber Sorting

Fibers are sorted by color, quality, and any contamination, ensuring that only the finest material proceeds to the next stage.

4. Fiber Opening and Dedusting

The fibers are gently opened and dedusted to remove sand, dust, dandruff, and other impurities, preserving the natural softness of the cashmere.

5. Fiber Scouring

Using bio-degradable detergent, fibers are washed to remove residual sand, dust, and natural animal grease, enhancing cleanliness and quality.

6. Final Sorting and Dehairing

The coarse guard hair is separated from the fine down, leaving only the softest fibers suitable for luxury cashmere production.

7. Carding

All fibers are carded into even, uniform strands, preparing them for the spinning process.

8. Hand Spinning

Using a traditional Charkha, artisans hand-spin the fibers into yarn, maintaining the integrity and delicacy of each strand.

9. From Yarn to Products

Once spun, the yarn is ready to be knitted or woven into a wide range of cashmere products, including scarves, sweaters, beanies, and more, all reflecting the craftsmanship and quality of handmade Himalayan cashmere.

By combining sustainable farming practices with careful, traditional fiber processing, Lomanthang Cashmere ensures every product embodies luxury, durability, and ethical production values.
