The Chyangra Pashmina Farmers Association, situated in the breathtaking landscapes of Upper and Lower Mustang, works hand in hand with the Animal Breeding Center in Charang to promote the growth of cashmere goats and the meticulous care of the exquisite fiber they produce. Chyangra farming is not just a source of income; it is a deeply rooted tradition that connects every household in Mustang, highlighting the community’s commitment to this age-old craft. Because of this dedication, Nepal has earned a well-deserved reputation for its high-quality cashmere fabric, celebrated and recognized on international stages.
This Farmers Association oversees all aspects of the chyangra farming process; from nurturing the goats to expertly collecting and processing the cashmere fiber, they ensure that the fibers are carefully dispatched to the processing facility located in Godawari, Nepal. Here, skilled artisans transform the raw fibers into luxurious handspun yarn, which is then used by pashmina and cashmere manufacturers for their premium products. This harmonious blend of tradition and Christmas not only supports local livelihoods but also contributes to the global appreciation of Nepalese Cashmere.
